Autism Spectrum Disorder

I have extensive experience working with children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder and who have other developmental and learning disorders. I also have experience treating undesirable behaviour and establishing self-care and independence skills.

With teenagers on the ASD, we work on self-esteem, understanding complicated concepts, developing empathy, potential career skills, communicational skills and much more. I am an ABA therapist. I use a methodology of evidence-based psychology, Applied Behaviour Analysis, floor time, individual programs, preparation for inclusion in schools, exams, etc.

In case of suspicion of Autism Spectrum Disorder, I suggest passing an ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition). ADOS-2 is a standardized assessment tool that helps providers diagnose autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in children and adults. This assessment involves a semi-structured play or interview session determined by the age and communication level of the individual. The ADOS provides standardized activities and questions that give the examiner opportunities to observe behaviours that are directly relevant to the diagnosis of ASD.

The examiner chooses from five different modules depending on age (12 months through adulthood), language and developmental level. The assessment usually takes 40 – 60 minutes to complete. The examiner scores the ADOS-2 based on observations noted during the session on several aspects of social behaviour. The score on the ADOS-2 indicates whether or not the individual’s presentation is consistent with a diagnosis of an ASD. ADOS-2 is a gold standard diagnostic tool used to help assess ASD. The ADOS-2 delves into the key indicators of Autism, including communication, social interaction, and restricted and repetitive behaviours.

In case of any Developmental disorder, I suggest going through ABLLS-R (Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills – Revised). Read More… ABLLS-R is an assessment tool, curriculum guide, and skills-tracking system used to help guide the instruction of language and critical learner skills for children with autism or other developmental disabilities. This practical and parent-friendly tool facilitates the identification of skills needed by the child to effectively communicate and learn from everyday experiences.

It provides a comprehensive review of 544 skills from 25 skill areas including language, social interaction, self-help, academic, and motor skills of children ages birth to 12 years.

I help expat children and teenagers to adapt to a new environment in the most comfortable way. Make an appointment, or call me, it’s time to start working, do it for the ones you love the most.
